Blessing of the animals: by Norwood United Methodist Church will take place Saturday, Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Cavanaugh Funeral Home parking lot, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood. A blessing will be offered for each animal as we call out their name. Bring your crated, leashed, big and small pets. If your pet is unable to attend, bring a photo of them. Annual pierogie sale: at Sacred Heart Church, Clifton Heights, runs Nov. 11 to 22 in St. Stephen’s Church Hall, West Baltimore Avenue and Church Street, where the pierogies will be handmade. The Senior Social Club of St. Mary Magdalen Parish: in Upper Providence will host a trip to the Forrest Theater in Philadelphia to see “A Beautiful Noise” on Wednesday, Dec. 18. The Neil Diamond musical is an inspiring, high-energy filled memoir set to the songs that defined Diamond’s career. Cost is $275, which includes bus transportation, lunch at Maggiano’s Restaurant and admission to the musical. The Wayne Oratorio Society: is presenting “A Sea Symphony” by Ralph Vaughan Williams at the Wayne Presbyterian Church at Lancaster and North Wayne avenues in Wayne on Nov. 2 and 3, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Conductor John Grecia will lead the 140-voice Wayne Oratorio orchestra and feature soloists Melanie Sarakatsannie (soprano) and Nicholas Provenzale (baritone). The church is adjacent to the SEPTA Wayne station, with surface parking in surrounding SEPTA-designated areas. There is an entrance to the church from the parking areas, behind the church, off North Wayne Avenue, or from the front of the church entrance on Lancaster Avenue.
St. Gabriel Parish: 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood, will hold a dance party featuring The Sensational Soul Cruisers on Saturday, Nov 16. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. and the show will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $60, which includes dinner and dancing. The Sensational Soul Cruisers is an 11-man horn and soulful vocal group. The St. Pius X Over 50 Club in Broomall: is running a trip to Mount Hope Estate and Winery in Manheim, Lancaster County, on Monday, Dec. 2. The bus will depart St Pius X Church parking lot on Lawrence Road at 10:45 a.m. and arrive at Mount Hope at 12:30 p.m. Appetizers will be displayed and served upon arrival, followed by a traditional turkey dinner at 1 p.m. A vegetarian option of eggplant and quinoa with roasted vegetables will be available as an alternative. The meal will be followed by a special holiday performance and then free time in the wine shop. The bus will arrive home to the St. Pius parking lot at 6:15 p.m. Cost of the day trip is $136 and payment is due by Nov. 5. Holy Myrrh-Bearers Church: 2024 pierogie sale. Cost is $11 per dozen for potato and cheese pierogies and $13 per dozen for sauerkraut pierogies. Pierogie sale dates are Nov. 6 and 20, Dec. 4 and 18. Pickup times are Wednesday of sale week and every Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Order no later than the preceding Sunday to ensure availability that sale week. Most times fresh and smoked kielbasi rings, Holubki (stuffed cabbage), Halushki (buttered noodles with/without kielbasa), assorted nut rolls and various home-made soups are available. First United Methodist Church of Media: also known as First Church Media, 350 W. State St., Media, distributes food Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m and Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. The church’s Clothing Closet mainly takes private appointments, which can be scheduled by calling the church office at 610-566-3172. The Legion of Mary: is a Catholic organization of men and women, who work with the Blessed Mother and Holy Spirit to spread the good news of Jesus Christ, our savior, to the world in various locations and manners.
